Newbie question: TV display is very dark when I switch to my OTT TV BOX
#1
My picture/display is extremely dark....???  This is the first time I have ever plugged this thing in!  So I'm new to this whole thing.  My tv has never had any picture/display issues.  How do I brighten the display?  This only happens when I switch TV input to my OTT BOX.  Otherwise, TV is perfectly bright!
Any ideas on what's happening?
Thanks in advance!

It's a common issue in these tv boxes!
Try to see if there is an update which might fix this!

I sure will, thank you! Could you direct me on where to make an update? Also, I'm a little lost on how this box works, is there somewhere I can go to find a beginners guide? Do you have get "add ons" to watch TV? What is Kodi? Sorry, I'm starting from square one!! Thanks for your help! =)

First to make an update via PC or via SD card it's kind of tricky if you don't know!
So it's better for start , to look on your settings for system update(if there is ) !
Now look for a guide here: https://www.tomsguide.com/us/what-is-kod...-4160.html
Or just ''googling'' for more info about all these!

Thank you for the reply and the helpful link!  Right now the box isn't connected to a PC and I don't have a sim card.  It's only connected to the TV by an HDMI cable.
I was able to find the "about device" in settings.  I tried the "wireless update" and it said the device was up to date.
Here is a few items it listed:
Model number: NEXSMART-D32
Android version: 5.1.1
Android security patch level: 2016-4-1
Baseband version: unknown
Kernel version: 3.10.0 melvin@develop-server2 #23
Build number: 032-userdebug 5.1.1 LMY49F eng.melvin.20170106 test-keys

I did find a couple of You Tube videos last night that were helpful. I think kind grasp the concept of how this thing works!! We'll see!!
However, that won't matter if the screen is too dark to see anything!
I'm not quite sure what to do next!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
Tiffany

Download from playstore AIDA64 an app to help you identify more your tv box!
Look for the storage and the ram details and if you have the 1ram/8rom version there is an Android 6.0 update which might solve that issue!
Dear Tiffany it looks like you have a lot to learn!
So you can go here : http://www.tvboxforum.com/showthread.php?tid=1272
and here : http://www.nexsmarthome.com/
and look for more....

Thank you for that info!
I've done a little troubleshooting. I tried different HDMI outlets with no difference.  I plugged this box into 2 other TV's and the brightness of the display is perfect!
So it seems to be a problem with this one TV.  (It's a brand new 75" LG smart TV).  I can tell you for sure that when I switch the TV input over to this Android Box the home screen starts in perfect brightness.  Then in 2 seconds you can watch it fade to dark.
The TV is perfect brightness setting when I am on the Direct TV HDMI and the DVD player HDMI.
Do you know where I can begin to try to figure this out?
Thank you again so much,
Tiffany

Wanted to tell you I fixed it!!!

I googled "lg tv hdmi brightness problem" and I found a forum where they talked about the same issue with LG Tv's!
http://www.avsforum.com/forum/166-lcd-fl...mming.html

The solution was to simply "rename" the input label (icon) to "PC".
Here is the solution link in case anybody else has this problem with their LG tv.

So glad this worked! My display is perfectly bright!!
Thanks for all your help!
